We're responsible for preventing the harmful effects of pollution and waste on Victorian communities and the environment.

We're responsible for protecting the environment for the benefit of Victorians – now and in the future. Our role is to prevent and reduce harm from pollution and waste on our environment and health.

We work across all levels of government and with other organisations to prevent the harmful effects of pollution and waste on human health and the environment and to support Victoria’s transition to a circular economy.

We help the Victorian Government understand its environmental impacts and obligations under the Environment Protection Act 2017. We work with government on large infrastructure projects across all phases – including environmental assessment, early works, construction and operation.
